California Flowers

Every flower is a soul blossoming in nature.

In early June this year I will be flying out to Southern California, and then on to Arizona for a week or so.

One of the things I like best about SoCal is the beautiful flowers ~ the like of which we don’t see here in England.

perhaps I should get a book on the wild flowers of the USA

Monochrome Monday ~ California

Got on board a west bound 747, it never rains in Southern California.

But man don’t they warn you, man it pours, man it pours.  England is my home, I want to go home, I want to go home, where it rains but it never pours.  And, they say it never rains in Southern California.

Southern California is a cool place to be.

California Street Art

There is nothing boring about the streets in Southern California.

Without even getting out of the car my friend took these great shots.

But then, she is a fabulous artist and has an artist’s eye for a picture.

Personally, show me the side wall of a building, and I’ll most likely paint it white.  But then, I am a staid English guy.

I’ve never ridden a skateboard, and I don’t think I would like to try.

And, a couple of houses, not a flotilla of boats.

I completely agree, stop making plans, just get out there and do it.

Southern California Views

Southern California is one of ‘coolest’ places I know, some call it SoCal…

SoCal runs from Point Conception in the north to the Mexican Border in the south.  A land area of about 56.5 million square miles, (which is six million square miles more than England).  Geographically there is the coastal plain;

The mountains;

With a desert in-between.

For good reasons, hardly anyone lives in either the mountains or the desert.

Given that I’ve lived in England for most of my life, and I only know about half of that, I’m trying to get to know one small part of Southern California. Orange County CA covers a land area of about 800 square miles yet over three million people officially live there, (trust me, add in the number of illegal immigrants and the true population is probably nearer four million), and at times it feels like it.

The freeways are crowded all the time, yet what the Californians call the surface roads are usually quiet.

The architecture ranges from the quaint;

to expensive,

to weird.

Best just to enjoy the strange fun of being in one of the coolest places on the planet.

Palm Springs is cool, weird, and fun.

San Juan Capistrano

Drive north from Encinitas in Southern California on the Interstate 5 and after 40 miles you will come to a famous place called San Juan Capistrano.

I wanted to go here because a song I heard a long time ago.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VUSC37bLuuU

The swallows legend says that the faithful little birds return to the mission every year on March the 19th, St. Josephs Day.

The mission is a beautiful and restful place, filled with flowers, that reminded me of the set for a John Wayne western movie.

The town of San Juan Capistrano, is also a great place to sit in the sunshine ant eat chocolate ice cream, especially if you have a great girl with you
