Weird Wyoming

Wyoming; like no place on Earth.

For this well-travelled Englishman, Southern Wyoming has the weirdest landscape I have ever seen.  Not only that, one can drive for a hundred miles in total isolation, and everything looks the same for every single mile.  I love California, I liked Utah, I’m not yet certain about Wyoming.

Scenes on Sunday ~ Marmaduke USA

It’s Very Nice To Go Traveling.

But it’s so much nicer to travel home.

Carrying a teddy bear from England to the West Coast of the USA isn’t quite as easy as you would think, what with curious Homeland Security sniffer dogs and all….

On the other hand, I know Marmaduke did better than me when it came to exploring the romance and attractiveness of California Girls.  Although that wouldn’t be so difficult. I can be so very stuffy, preppy-style, repressed even, some of the time.

On the other hand, poor Marmaduke struggled a bit in the desert ~ what with his fur coat and everything.

Oceans Apart

A woman’s heart is a deep ocean of secrets.

~

across the ocean, you are so far away

I want to wake with you, to the sound of the waves

crashing white on each brand new day

life is what happens, when you’re making plans

and all that you need is right there in your hands

California Sunshine

You know what?  Today I’m sick of the miserable English winter.  I’m a bit fed up with all the Xmas false bonhomie and commercialism that precedes the real joy of Christmas.  So, just to please myself here are some shots from road trips I took in the warm Southern California Sunshine.  These pictures were taken with a Lumix pocket camera.

Scenes on Sunday # 21

I like the desert.  I also like Palm Springs, mountains, and cable cars ~ although this one near Palm Springs is called an Aerial Tramway.  If you want to look like a manly man don’t be scared of cable cars.

All these shots were taken with a LUMIX Panasonic DMC-X53 pocket camera, which is far better to cart up a mountain that my old 35mm SLR with all its attendant lenses.  My days of carrying around a heavy SLR are done and gone.

Scenes on Sunday # 20

I like clouds.  It’s amazing how many different moods one can find in the sky just outside one’s front door.  All these shots were taken with a LUMIX Panasonic DMC-X53 pocket camera, and are not messed with or photoshopped in any way.

As it happens, I need a new camera, and I think I’m going to look for a more up to date LUMIX Panasonic.  My days of carrying around a camera bag are long gone.

Scenes on Sunday # 14

This Sunday there’s some pictures of a bear.  Just a few from my friend Marmaduke’s personal library. What in the world is a bear doing with a camera?  Everyone likes teddy bears, it’s just that as we get older we forget to look at them as people too.  So, why shouldn’t Marmaduke borrow my camera from time to time?

By the way, most women think it’s cute that a grown man still has a teddy bear.  A really cool guy should not be afraid to show his softer, quirkier side from time to time.

All these shots were taken with a compact LUMIX Panasonic DMC-AS3 camera, using the built-in timer.  This camera is so lightweight, small, and smart that even a little teddy bear can manage it.
