Is Using Marijuana Stupid?

Marijuana is addictive.  Marijuana eases pain.

Among all the alternative truths, fake news, denial, and propaganda aimed at the legalisation of cannabis / pot / marijuana are a couple of recent reports by ‘real scientists and doctors’ which clearly show that marijuana is quite likely to ruin your health, destroy your quality of life, and quite possibly kill you.

The first report compiled by the National Inpatient Study in the USA shows that marijuana use significantly increases your risk of suffering a stroke and / or heart failure, as well as exacerbating some other factors known to increase significantly cardiovascular disease including; obesity, alcoholism, high blood pressure, and smoking tobacco.

Meanwhile, a report by the Institute of Living in Connecticut, clearly shows that marijuana use makes young people stupid ~ especially when combined with booze.  Of the people I know who use marijuana, ALL of them are also heavy drinkers, bordering on alcoholism.  Honestly, I do not ever want to be around anyone who uses this stupid drug for recreational reasons.

Also in the USA, Narconon states that marijuana use significantly increases the risk of road traffic accidents, accidents in the home and workplace, psychosis, and schizophrenia.  In fact, the chances are than anyone you know who suffers from schizophrenia has been a heavy user of marijuana at some time in their lives.

It’s well know that marijuana makes people have mental time and space distortions, poor coordination, impaired communication skills, difficulty in thinking and problem solving, and terrible cognitive skills.  The effects of the drug can last up to four weeks, so anyone who has used marijuana in the last four weeks shouldn’t be allowed anywhere near the need to make important decisions.  Anyone who has made an important decision within four weeks of using cannabis should seriously think again.

Despite what the proponents of marijuana use might say, marijuana is addictive.  One in 11 people who smoke cannabis will become addicted, rising to one in six if marijuana use starts in adolescence.  However, addiction is a complex problem, with multiple addictions being the most common way that lives are destroyed.  Any regular user of marijuana probably also drinks, smokes tobacco, gambles, binge eats, and is most likely addicted to all of those life-destroying habits and more.  There is a strong chance that anyone with multiple addictions / an addictive personality, is also suffering from Borderline Personality Disorder, and should seek immediate medical treatment.  (This is unlikely because most who are addicted, or suffer from borderline personality disorder, will be in the last stages of denial.)

Other downsides of cannabis use; it stinks worse than tobacco, causes lung cancer and other cancers just like tobacco, can cost you a fortune, and used anywhere that it’s illegal or against workplace regulations can land you in serious  trouble.  Using marijuana isn’t cool in any way, shape, or form, because it makes you talk and act like a deranged fool.

However, in the USA this addictive drug is now legal for recreational use in; Alaska, California, Colorado, Maine, Massachusetts, Nevada, Oregon, Washington, and Washington DC ~ mostly left-leaning Democrat states.  Cannabis is still illegal in Great Britain, but the police take so little notice that you’d have to be growing and selling the stuff in industrial quantities to get into any trouble from the law.  Urban left-leaning liberals are very keen to have pot legalised in the United Kingdom ~  the fools.

There is some strong evidence that the medicinal use of marijuana can alleviate the symptoms of some very nasty diseases, mostly reducing nausea and pain, but the medical effects have not been properly tested in the way that a new, mainstream drug would be tested before being allowed anywhere near patients.

Using marijuana is incredibly stupid.  Personally, I think you would have to be seriously loose of a few screws in the brain to go anywhere near this noxious weed.  Personally, I have enough problems without ever going anywhere near cannabis or a cannabis user.  Unless I was in severe pain, and the weed was the only way I could get through the day.

Have fun, smoke cannabis, and cure or kill yourself.  Have a nice day.

The Curse Of Cannabis

Marijuana use causes mental illness

cannabis1

Some say that cannabis is safe and non-addictive.  And, that using marijuana can ease the pain of many debilitating illnesses.  All I know is that skunk causes schizophrenia.

woman smoking cannabisTwenty-five years ago most doctors would have said there was no link between cannabis use and mental health problems such as schizophrenia.  Now, Professor Sir Robin Murray, (the foremost authority in Britain on the effects of smoking marijuana), has raised some very alarming warnings in a study published in the professional journal The Lancet Psychiatry.

The study concludes that 24 per cent of ‘first episode psychosis’ cases in South London were caused by smoking strong cannabis.  There is a strong link between cannabis use and mental illness

In an experiment for a television documentary, broadcaster and former Member of Parliament Matthew Parris tried ‘skunk’ cannabis.

The effect was stunning ~ and not, (for me), in a good way.  short-term memory went walkabout.  I would forget what I was talking about even when I was talking.  I became shaky.  Time went haywire.

In the same experiment television news presenter Jon Snow said;

By the time I was completely stoned, I felt utterly bereft.  I felt as if my soul had been wrenched from my body….  I would never do it again.

Recent events have shown that the effects of cannabis use may be much, much worse than that.  There is a litany of violent crimes and terrorist attacks where the perpetrators had a history of heavy cannabis use.  One example is the Copenhagen Killer, Omar El-Hussein, who had twice been arrested for cannabis possession.  The recent Paris killers were also known cannabis users, so were the killers of soldier Lee Rigby, and so is the chief suspect in the Boston Marathon bombings of 2013.

obama-selfieYet, it is fashionable among the urban elite both to admit to cannabis use, and to legislate to make this dangerous drug even easier to get.  US President Barack Obama has said that smoking marijuana is no more dangerous than alcohol.  Personally, I trust every word Mr. Obama says, maybe, or maybe not.

I couldn’t make it up.  Using mind-altering chemicals is no way to attain a spiritual life.  I have known two people who committed suicide after smoking marijuana.

Drug Abuse in Spirituality

CANNABIS IS NOT SAFE

To live a spiritual life requires one to be dedicated to reality, to the truth, to honesty in all things ~ as long as our honesty does not harm the innocent.  Without searing self awareness it is difficult to progress beyond mere lip service to the concept of spirituality ~ self-deception and denial trap us in mere existence as opposed to really living the good life.  Drug abuse, be it prescription drugs, cannabis, cocaine, heroin, alcohol, or whatever your personal poison is, relies on self deception and denial.

Reality denied comes back to haunt.  ~ Philip K Dick from Flow My Tears the Policeman Said

Philip Kindred Dick;  novelist, short story writer, philosopher, science fiction guru.

Cannabis / marijuana / hemp users have long said that the weed is safe, non addictive, has no bad side effects ~ in fact many cannabis users have stated that the weed is much safer than alcohol.  Pro-cannabis campaigners like to say that cannabis is essentially harmless, therefore the drug should be decriminalised in the UK.

A study by Professor Wayne Hall for the World Health Organisation utterly refutes the liberal mantra that cannabis is safe.  His analysis shows that the active ingredient in the drug triggers anxiety, depression, depersonalisation, and psychotic disorders such as schizophrenia and bipolar disorder, causes memory lapses and false memory syndrome, inhibits brain development in younger people, increases the risk of cancers and cardiovascular disease, and the weed is indeed highly addictive, as addictive as heroin.

Like most drug abuse, including alcohol abuse, cannabis wrecks lives, breaks up relationships, causes the destruction of the family, creates crime, violence and unemployment.  The pro-cannabis lobby resort to propaganda, personal attacks, deception and lies to make their point that cannabis is harmless.  It isn’t.  The pro-cannabis lobby is backed by many celebrities, although I am unsure if the ubiquitous Hugh Grant is one of them.  The Liberal Democrats, a fringe UK political party certainly back the legalisation of cannabis for personal use.  This is self deception writ large.

Most cannabis users start smoking the weed in their early teens, a part of life when the brain is still developing.  Usually the human brain does not complete its development until the early twenties ~ cannabis use causes irreversible brain damage in the young.  This results in a lower IQ, which makes school or college difficult.  Users often drop out of education, can’t find a job, become distant from family and old friends, and become dependent on cannabis, welfare payments, and crime.  Cannabis use increases the risk of suicide, road traffic accidents, accidents in the home, and homelessness.

Trust me on this one, giving up any drug is difficult beyond belief.  Giving up cannabis is little different to giving up alcohol, cocaine or heroin.  You have to have suffered serious withdrawal to know the nightmarish mental and physical hell quitting an addictive drug can cause.  Giant spiders climbing up the wall are the least of it.  Some people die during withdrawal, and that kind of death isn’t pretty.

Whether you sniff it, smoke it, or shove it up your ass, the result is the same: addiction. ~ William S Burroughs

William Seward Burroughs II, (nome de plume William Lee).  Novelist, short story writer, essayist, painter.

I refuse to believe that the supporters of the legalisation of cannabis are not aware of all this.  I believe they are aware but consider themselves immune, possibly just because they are part of the urban elite and read the Guardian newspaper.  Of all the politicians, the Liberal Democrats disgust me most on this issue.  They are right at the heart of the liberal urban elite, like to be seen as cool and ultra modern, and believe that the ‘war on drugs’ is lost anyway.  In my view they are pathetic, irrelevant to 95% of the population of these islands, and caught in utter denial about their entire ethos.

marijuana-thc-molecule

marijuana, the active molecule

The active, mind altering, ingredient of cannabis is tetrahydrocannabinol, (THC).  The human brain contains receptors that THC fits like a key fits the right lock.  These receptors are concentrated in areas of the brain that handle; coordination, cognition, memory, pleasure and the sense of time.  THC causes the brain to release dopamine, the pleasure hormone.  THC also causes hallucinations and delusions.  There are more than 400 different cannabinoids, one found in cannabis is tetrahydrocannabivarin, (THCV), along with sundry other chemical compounds required to produce a psychoactive response to THC.  No person alive can achieve real spirituality with all that shit going on.

Most cannabinoids are soluble in fat, which means that it takes a long time for the THC to clear the body and brain.  Heavy cannabis users will produce a positive result in drug tests for up to 90 days after last taking the drug.

Luckily, THC is not particularly toxic, one is unlikely to die as a direct result of taking cannabis.  But, all of the nasty illnesses one can get from smoking tobacco, one can get in spades from smoking cannabis.  In particular cannabis smoke contains quite high concentrations of; ammonia, hydrogen cyanide and nitrogen oxides, as well as tar, more than 50 known carcinogens, and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons ~ (cannabis smoke stinks).

The effects of cannabis hit the body within seconds if the weed is smoked, and usually last for 60 to 180 minutes, but can hang around for eight hours or more.  If you bake the stuff in cookies it is likely to be a half-hour before one gets a high.  The more often one uses cannabis, the more cannabis is required in order to obtain that high.

The best effects of cannabis are; a feeling of well-being or euphoria, a feeling of relaxation, increased appreciation of the beauty in all things, (art, music, humour), increased awareness of sensation / increased sensuality, increased libido, increased creativity, increased joviality, metacognition and introspection.  In short, the users connection to reality becomes tenuous.

Sexy-Shoes

The really bad effects are; hallucinations, altered body image, illusions, ataxia, depersonalisation, derealisation, aggression, psychosis, panic attacks, critical introspection, paranoia and a desire to eat ~ just about anything.

Like all illegal drugs, cannabis / marijuana is generally a bad idea.

Cannabis / marijuana is not at all congruent with any idea of spirituality, don’t do it, if you’re already a user, think hard about giving up this particular weed.
