I am not a number…..

I am a free man

Yesterday I tried to come up with a bucket and to-do list that had 7 important things on it, and I got stuck after 6, which you will see if you look back at that post.  I shouldn’t have been surprised, the number six is in my destiny right now.

~

Kipling thought that six was important too;

I keep six honest serving men, (They taught me all I knew);

Their names are What and Why, and When

And How and Where and Who

If you can remember those, then you will never go far wrong when it comes to making any decision, writing anything, or making a success of anything you wish to do.

~

There are also 6 healing powers.  The six best doctors are;

Sun, Rest, Exercise, Good Food, Self-Respect, and Friends

But, when it comes to good food, don’t eat too much of it.  Keep well hydrated, and stay away from the booze.

~

In fact there are 6 things one should really stay away from;

Alcohol, Casual Sex, Drugs, Over-Eating, Smoking, and Refined Sugar

All of those will kill you eventually, some will just kill you faster than others.

~

The number 6 is also a perfect number, congruent number, harmonic divisor number, and has lots to do with weird stuff like Zsigmondy’s Theorem, sphere packing, the kissing number problem, and Graeco-Latin squares.

~

Some say we should not worry about material items, including money.  And that worry lowers the effectiveness of your thoughts, dreams, wishes, and prayers.  All I know is that the Angel Number 6 means that our prayers will be answered, although the answer might be ‘no’.

The Art of Attracting Women

Faint Heart could never win Fair Lady

This is all an artificial construct, because a very sensual, intelligent, emotionally mature, and very grounded woman can never be attracted by techniques, or schemes, or cunning artifice.  The only person who could ever deceive that woman, or make her date an unsuitable man, or get into a less than ideal relationship is herself.  And, women can be very good at fooling themselves, not that they would ever admit that, (hardly ever anyway).

There are innumerable works out there which will purport to tell a guy how to pick up a woman, how to regularly get casual sex, how to manipulate women, how to fuck them and leave them, and how to use them.  Perhaps the deepest and most thorough treatise on the art of using women is The Way Of The Superior Man by David Deida.  I can only stomach this book for a couple of pages at a time.

So, to the truth, and assuming you are not James Bond.  To attract a sensual, intelligent, emotionally mature, and very grounded woman;

Be the very best version of yourself you can possibly be.

  • Get healthier and fitter.  Exercise, eat right, get some sun.
  • Look as good as you can.  Haircut, manicure, teeth, and manage any facial or other extraneous hair.
  • Dress as well as you can ~ appropriately for the place and occasion, but find your own style.  Always dress up, rather than dress down.  Pay attention to your shoes and tie.
  • Control your addictions.  Stop smoking, don’t drink much at all, don’t gamble, don’t overeat or eat junk food, and FFS do not use drugs.
  • Learn some English good manners.  Almost all American men have appalling manners, but not as bad as Germans, Japanese, and most other Asians or Hispanics.
  • Learn how to hold a conversation, and for most men that means learning how to listen to her.
  • Read some interesting books, learn some interesting things to talk about ~ most women are very uninterested in sports.  Find out what she is interested in and learn about that.  Have a wide and deep knowledge base, but never ever bore her with what you know.
  • Accessorise well. Apartment, car, watch, pen…..
  • Learn about money, manage your money well so you can always pick up the tab if you need to, but never ever flash your cash around.

But, most of all, care about her.  If you do not genuinely like her and care about her then you are wasting both of your time.  I’m not talking about love, that should usually only come deep into a relationship.  Caring about someone is different.  She is a person, not a sex object.  If you want a sex object find a hooker or a slut.

Some say there is no such thing as ‘the art of attracting woman’.  And that any woman you can get that’s willing and breathing is the one you want.  All I know is that there is nothing so precious to a man as real and honest friendship with a woman.

The Lockdown That Never Was

one day, surviving lockdown will be a badge of honour

It’s not a matter for applause Boris

Here in England it’s day 44 of the official lockdown, and around the country there are many people still suffering self-isolation.  You want to know something, solitary confinement constitutes a ‘cruel and unusual punishment’, and yet the British Government has inflicted this torture on it’s entire population, for no very good reason at all.

Of course this lockdown does not apply to them, not to the British Government, not to the great and the good.  All the swines at the trough, all the government ministers, politicians, health officials, civil servants, the scientists, the intelligentsia advising the government and National Health Service through multifarious committees, none of these people either believes in lockdown or think it applies to them.

Among the dozens and dozens of scandals around the self-important, sanctimonious, and stupid people who have cheated the whole lockdown thing we have Catherine Calderwood, who used to be Scotland’s Chief Medical Officer.  She had to resign her post after breaking her own rules and visiting her second home in Earlsferry, Fife, which is a hell of a long way from Edinburgh, the Scottish capital.

But that pales into insignificance if we consider the case of Professor Neil Ferguson, who happens to be the bastard who told the British Government there would be 500,000 avoidable deaths here if we didn’t have lockdown.  Mr Trump was persuaded to impose lockdown in the USA after Ferguson told the President there would be 2,000,000 deaths in the USA if lockdown wasn’t imposed.

Well, it seems married with kids Feruguson (51) has been having his amoral slut, married with kids Antonia Staats (38) travel all across London for a regular fuck while Ferguson’s own lockdown was in force.  I’d like to bet I know what kind of people these two are, since they met on an online dating site OKCupid.  You know what, the architect of lockdown having his slut break the lockdown rules so they could do whatever it is they do for sexual gratification is beyond contemptible disgust.

Personally, I gave up on lockdown on the first of May.  Today I took a 3 hour walk by the sea, in the fresh air and sunshine, and I feel a hell of a lot better for it.

Not many others around here seem to be much interested in self-isolation either.  Lots of cars on the road, lots of bicyclists around, and where I walk there were lots of other people taking the air and enjoying the sunshine and fresh sea breezes.

The supermarkets are open, although you may need to stand in line outside for a while.  Restaurants are offering take-outs, our local DIY super-store is doing take-outs for stuff like paint and tools, building and gardening contractors are working, and IKEA is opening its UK stores on May 18th.

Some say we are all equal, we are all in this COVID-19 thing together.  And that we should stay at home to protect the Health Services.  All I know is they can all fuck with whoever they like as long as they leave the rest of us alone.

The Infinite Pain of Love

sex, lust, and desire cannot pain ~ only love hurts

In all my life I have never had a one-night-stand, picked up a woman at a bar, had sex with a woman who wasn’t first a friend, nor had a long-term relationship with a woman I didn’t love.  I wish I had.

I wish I had been one of those guys who could just fuck a woman and then forget her.  Or have a relationship with a woman who meant nothing to me.  Or cheated, lied, and manipulated…..

Deep in my heart I wish I wasn’t romantic, and that I didn’t have to fall in love before I would think about sleeping with an attractive woman.

Without Love, Life would have been so much easier.

For me, falling in love lasts for all eternity.

For me, being deeply hurt lasts forever.

I wish I was the average bastard.

Random Jottings ~ Motoring Nostalgia

she’s not just four wheels and an engine ~ she’s a friend

Caterham 7 and one-time friend

Sitting at home in this government-imposed lockdown I’ve had lots of time to think and to remember.  I found myself remembering all the cars and motorcycles I’ve ever owned, the good, the bad, and the just damn ugly.  As I have an almost perfect memory I believe this is a pretty good list of my motoring history.

Bikes;  BSA Bantam, Honda CB 175, Honda 400 Four, Norton Commando, Ariel Square 4.

I was never a particularly keen motorcyclist.  England is just  far too cold, wet, windy, and icy to be a fun place tor ride a ‘bike.  However for one memorable year I did commute on a Honda CB175 like the one opposite.  The upside was I could weave through traffic, the downside was that weaving through traffic is damn dangerous.

The very first car I ever owned, the one I learned to drive in was a Vauxhall Viva HA in dark blue.  Since then I’ve liked navy blue cars.  Following that I owned a Mini 850, Austin-Healey Sprite, Mini Cooper, another Austin-Healey Sprite, Lotus Elan, (which I wrote off in a bird-strike at 100+mph on the road from Durham to Edinburgh), MG Midget, (which is the same as an AH Sprite except for the badge), Jaguar E-Type Coupe, Mini 1275.

Then I bought a house and swapped the mini for a Reliant Robin van.  As series of vans followed; Ford Escort Van, Bedford, and another Reliant.

Then I went upmarket again; Austin-Healey Sprite, VW Scirocco, Triumph TR6, Ford Escort as a second car, MG Montego, (that shit heap was really bad), Rover Vitesse, Vauxhall Astra, Rover Coupe, (in dark blue with the removable glass roof, great little car).  Then a stealth black Vaxhall Calibra 2.5, which was a genuine 140mph car, Nissan 200SX, Caterham 7, (and that Caterham was the fucking fastest point to point little car ever on anything other than a freeway). And finally a Light Weight Landrover, which had to be the most brutally ugly car ever built.

Of all the myriad of cars I rented after that, three stand out.  The Ford Mustangs, always a convertible.  The Dodge Charger, and a few Nissan SUVs, which I liked a lot.

If ever I get out of this lockdown I’m buying a Volvo, a C30 sports coupe, which if you have to ask is a very cool car.

I won’t ever tell which of the above list I made out in.  A gentleman never tells.  I will say that you can’t make out in a Lotus or a Caterham.

Evolution in Action

it is not the strongest that survive, but the one most responsive to change

Evolution takes thousands of years, and in the last few days our thinking about every situation seems to have changed. fundamentally.  Perhaps our beliefs, attitudes, and actions are trying to play catch-up with us here.  None of us is used to a daily diet of bad news that rivals that which was fed to us English in the early months of the last war.  Catastrophic thinking is what we have here, the idea that the human brain is predisposed to jumping to worse-case scenarios, and it’s fucking dangerous.

In the not so distant past I was thinking about my next overseas vacation, perhaps a visit to California, or a trip to Crete,  Nowadays, I can’t go anywhere at all.  I turn on my TV and the news is just a long series of nightmares with the death toll being right at the top and tail of everything.

It’s a relief when a piece of news, or a telephone conversation with a friend, isn’t full of doom and gloom, a call that doesn’t have the fear of death looming over it.  Almost everyone is scared almost all the time, and there is a feeling of helpless resignation.

Well, I for one am going no further down that depressive, defeatist road.  This morning I did my usual laundry, took my usual walk for an hour or so, called at the store as usual, (although I did have to stand in line just to get in there), bought the kind of stuff I would usually buy….  Sadly when I got back to the garret I was too knackered to do my usual yoga and other exercises.  But thus far I’ve managed a fairly normal day, (for me), and I can live like this indefinitely.

But it’s not a great life if I can’t journey to the sun, see friends, travel all around England, walk towards the far horizons….  And sex is out of the question.  As far as I am concerned the sooner the world safely gets back to what we are predisposed to call normal, the better.

One big upside, I haven’t been brainwashed into believing all that catastrophic anthropogenic climate change crap for a little while.  Global warming looks pretty unimportant right now ~ call it evolution in action.

Stay safe and be well.  And may the Deities of your choice go with you.
