COVID ~ Official Scaremongering

there are lies, damn lies, and statistics

~

Much in the news here are rumours that Prime Minister Boris Johnson might have to back off on the plan to completely release England from the stupidity of lockdown / house arrest / self-quarantining / the wearing of useless face-masks, currently scheduled for June 21st, because the number of people testing positive for the cornonavirus has spiked at 3,165 in day, (and nobody died).  Mostly this ‘spike’ in the numbers testing positive is because of Mr. Toad’s stupidly delayed decision to stop travel / incoming flights from; Bangladesh, India, and Pakistan ~ presumably to avoid being seen as ‘racist’.  So while the disease hell-hole of the Indian sub-continent has the dead from covid being thrown into the Ganges, people from there were still free to enter the UK, until April 23rd

There are no available demographic statistics revealing what part of our population has tested positive for the virus, but it is very noticeable that the rise in cases is mostly in towns which have large communities with strong links to the Indian subcontinent.  Interestingly the latest spike in the number of cases is attributed to the Indian variant of the virus.

Something about these numbers stinks like last week’s bad fish, so I decided to look deeper into the statistics.  The most recent week for which I could find a complete set of numbers is between 13 – 19 of May 2021, when 14,051 people tested positive for covid, or an average of or an average of 2,007 a day, (assuming 7 day testing).  BUT, in that same week a total of 4,559,810 people were tested, meaning that the positive test rate was 0.324%

In the UK you only have a 1 in 300 chance of testing positive for covid.  So what’s all the fuss about FFS?  If you test positive for covid it is very unlikely that you will die from it, in fact most people who test positive for the coronavirus have no symptoms at all.

The sky is falling.  Buy an umbrella.

What the government tells us about covid are not lies, nor even damn lies, they are merely utterly misleading statistics.
