They Cut Down All The Trees

Life without trees is life without Love.

The street where I live is under serious redevelopment, which involves making a tremendous amount of mess.  It also means that the contractors have cut down all the mature trees which used to line both sides of the street, and surround the old church, (which is now actually an art gallery).

Perhaps the redevelopment is a good idea, and the place will look much better when it’s all finished, but cutting down all the trees is just urban vandalism.

Where I live now looks as though urban riots / a small war has just been through there.

And, the old church / art gallery now looks utterly bereft.  All such a shame.

As you can tell,

it’s still raining cats and dogs here.

  1. Sounds like what they do here in the US. It is a sin. You English being more civilized should protest before things get completely out of hand. I thought Prince Charles was very vocal and anti this sort of thing?

    1. Sometimes I’m not certain that we English are civilised at all. ❤

  2. Why on earth do they do that! It takes so long for the trees to grow and they add so much beauty. What a waste!

  3. Very sad, indeed. Trees are so important to an urban environment. I wonder if they have any plans to replant new trees once the construction is finished.

    1. Perhaps they’ll stick some young saplings where the mature trees once stood. In another 50 years or so those saplings may grow into trees. ❤

  5. I hate that they cut down the gorgeous trees to build more. No wonder there are so many people with breathing issues.
