For this Food on Friday it’s either recipes from California Cooks, or recipes for things I know they eat, (drink), in sunny California. (And, that’s pretty easy, because I know that in SoCal they will eat just about anything, and drink absolutely anything….)
Elise at Simply Recipes has her kitchen in Carmichael, Sacremento County, and has a great skillet shrimp and asparagus recipe for you to try. I know my friend in Orange County will like this dish, especially as it only takes 30 minutes and she can use a shed-load of garlic.

California girl Chungah Rhee at Damn Delicious has these damn delicious looking southwestern egg rolls with cilantro avocado sauce. Cilantro, (coriander), and avocado are ingredients I know they are big on in Southern California, my SoCal friend is always going on about cilantro, and avocado, and garlic if it comes to that.

What do Californians drink with their food? Judging by what I’ve seen on my road trips out there, a Californian will drink anything with alcohol in it when they’re eating. Beer, saki, tequila, wiskey, wine…. but they will also have my favourite drink along with food ~ water… For something a little different, Haether Christo has a nifty rose and tarragon gin lemonade. (This may not be a good idea, some ladies can get tearful after drinking gin, and tarragon is an aphrodisiac ~ honest.)
