Love’s Lost Laughter

Sometimes, it isn’t so funny.

She turned her big eyes on his heart

He thought they could make it work

He misses her so much, now they’re apart

She’d had to go away, be better,  fresh start

He’s been here before, he can play his part ~ so well

There was a time he had hopes and dreams

Champagne at dawn, roses, funny little schemes

He was living in a fantasy no where to go

Maybe it could be different this time, but no

He smiled a sunset crooked smile

Romancing a princess, just illusions

Pursuing a rainbow with impossible promises

There’s no future in delusion

There’s no going back, cut his losses

Time to face the world and start over again

Booze never was a solution
